- 2 min read
I've been trying to read a lot more, just recently came into a WHOLE lot of books.. so I'm trying to get through them. I figured why not do the occasional book review on them as I finish them? I personally love to read, it calms me. And if it's a good book, it's a win win.
Here's something I just recently finished a couple of days ago.

The Guardian by Nicholas Sparks - 400 pages.
I finished this book on Thursday, May 23rd.
Man, was this book a roller coaster of emotions. It will have you all in your feels. I purchased mine at a local thrift store for about a $1. But you can purchase it online here.
Main idea of the story?
29 year old Julie Barenson's young husband left her a widow, but left behind a promise to always watch over her, along with a huge Great Dane puppy, named Singer. Four years later, she's still living in the small town of Swansboro, North Carolina. She's emotionally ready to get out there and date again, a couple of dates later she's torn between two choices... at first... "Should it be Richard Franklin, the handsome, sophisticated engineer who treats her like a queen? Or Mike Harris, the down-to-earth nice guy who was her husband's best friend? Choosing one of them should bring her more happiness than she's had in years. Instead, Julie is soon fighting for her life in a nightmare spawned by a chilling deception and jealousy so poisonous that it has become a murderous desire."
Where does the story take place?
The small town of Swansboro, North Carolina, their homes, bars, The Clipper (haircut place where Julie works), & the Garage (where Mike, and his brother Henry work).
Main Characters - With brief description of each.
1. Julie Barenson - A young widow with nothing left but a Great Dane puppy named Singer, a promise, and thankfully some close friends in the small town of Swansboro, North Carolina.
2. Richard Franklin - A handsome, sophisticated engineer, who seems to be a nice guy, but suddenly becomes much more.
3. Mike Harris - Down to earth, nice guy, who was Julie's deceased husband's best friend, but also hers.
Moral of the Story - What did you learn?
Anyone can seem nice at first until they get you in your clutch, and then completely do a 180. Some people are manipulative just to get what they want, so be careful with the new people that come into your life. Get to know them, do your research, and learn their motives for coming into your life.
How did the story end?
Well if I told you that, I'd spoil it.. wouldn't I? One hint.. sad. But lesson well learnt.
Hopefully you choose to pick this book up, it really is a good read. Nicholas Sparks always does amazing with his work.
