Travel With Me To Oak Glen & Mt. Rubidoux!

When your looking for things to do on a Friday, with not much around that you haven't done.. what do you do? You get in the car and drive! This lead us to Oak Glen & Mt. Rubidoux in Riverside!

Oak Glen, California is by far one of the cutest farm towns I've ever been too, located in the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains. The first apple trees were planted in Oak Glen over 100 years ago, making them huge on APPLE everything! The cider... oh my goodness. The cider. You. Need. To. Try. It. And right down the street is Riley's Farm. You can do tons of things here, apple picking including. No charge for parking, or to just walk the grounds. They have historical tours, hayrides, dinner theater events that are ticketed, that you can do though.

Great for a stop if your in the area!

Mt. Rubidoux -

I had never heard of this place, until we were looking for something to do close to Riverside, California and came across it. I have to say it's a little bit of a hike to get to the top of course.. but it's well worth it. The view is spectacular.

Since I'd never heard of it, I knew next to nothing about it.. so after we went I did a little research on this amazing mountain. And I have to say, it has some crazy history!

It's a mountain west of downtown in Riverside that's a designated city park and landmark! It holds the OLDEST outdoor non-denominational Easter Sunrise Service in the U.S every year. "The Santa Ana River flows at the base of the mountain, which marks the boundary between the city of Riverside and the Rubidoux neighborhood of the City of Jurupa Valley. The mountain was named after Louis Rubidoux, who established Rancho Rubidoux in 1847, after purchasing a portion of the Rancho Jurupa from Benjamin Davis Wilson, the second elected mayor of LA. Many historic markers and memorials have been placed on the mountain, the most prominent being the cross at the summit dedicated to Father Junípero Serra. "

THE PEACE BRIDGE -

The Peace Bridge was built in 1925 by the city of Riverside to commemorate the work that was done by Frank Miller and his family to recognize his constant labor in the promotion of civic beauty, community righteousness and world peace. It's a gorgeous bridge that is so unique, goes hand in hand with the views.

THE TRAIL -

For the people that live in Riverside, this is probably a good spot to get a good workout in, and well worth it. For us visitors, 100% well worth it as well. The trail going up the mountain is pretty well paved, and there's plenty of lookout points to stop and catch your breath also. The cross with steps leading up to it, at the very top - crazy to see up close!

Great hike for a Friday afternoon!
